2016 - 9th Worthing & Adur Eco-summit. STEM Brighton University workshop - Energy Watch

Tue 21 Jun 2016

Energy Watch encouraged young people to contemplate the demand for constant energy generation, and the consequential impact this has on the planet.  Students discovered the vital role that engineers play in providing sustainable energy and experience was gained in solving real world energy problems. Pupils tested their understanding of forces, and investigated the effect of aerodynamics on the efficiency of a wind turbine, using models to decipher the optimum number and angle of blades to generate the most electricity. Solar cells were also used to explore the factors affecting the output of solar panels.
