2016 - Worthing & Adur Eco-summit. Second Nature Workshop - John Muir Discovery Award

An introduction to John Muir who founded National Parks and a taster session of the Discovery Award that involves 4 challenges: Discover a Wild Place, Explore its Wildness, Conserve a Wild Place and Share your experiences. This workshop used the outdoor grounds to discover signs of wildlife using animal tracks and signs to learn techniques to conserve wild places. Pupils looked at how climate has changed since John Muir's time in the 1850's when the first National Park was established and how this has an impact on nature and wild places today. The workshop included an activity that measures the ecological impact of the pupils lunch and tips on how to reduce their impact in the future.
