The theme of this year’s Worthing & Adur Eco Summit event is Getting Back to Nature and we are inviting pupils to showcase the good work of how their school is getting back to nature. Are your pupils making habitats for nature, sowing and growing, or perhaps creating inspiring outdoor learning spaces to encourage their love of the outside? We would love for your pupils to come and share their good work with other schools on the day in any way they would like such as a short PowerPoint with photos, showing items they have made such as a bat box; reading a poem, or perhaps even by performing a bite size play to tell everyone all about how they are getting back to nature!
There will be a produce show where your pupils can bring along fruit and vegetables lovingly grown in the school grounds which will be judged on the day, along with a plant swap enabling schools to have a greater variety of produce, colours and smells which hopefully in turn may increase the number of pollinators visiting their school grounds.
Pupils will attend fun and interactive workshop sessions, visit engaging stands, and be inspired by a Key Note speaker and presentations from other schools during assemblies. Further details of the workshops on offer will be provided before half term.
The event will be hosted by Worthing High School and will take place during the school day (9am to 3pm).
Following the amazing success of the charitable plastic milk bottle top collection in recent years, this will be repeated again. Schools and their communities are encouraged to start collecting clean, plastic milk bottle tops now. The milk bottle tops can be any colour but no other type of bottle tops are to be included as these are not accepted by the recycling company. The collection will be donated to Sight Support Worthing.
Invitations have been sent to schools in the Worthing & Adur area and reservations are now being taken. To reserve spaces for your school please click on the 'contact' tab.
